Radio Parts

Stock Parts - During a normal radio repair and restoration all parts that are used will be brand new. The except is the vacuum tubes, which most will be New Old stock, never used but sitting on shelves for many years.

Specialty Parts - If a radio uses a specialty part that can not be easily obtained, often substitutions will be made. Otherwise the part is considered unobtainable. Substitutions often time match the original, but will not retain the original style. This is common when bad transformers are replaced. This is considered minor in a radio restoration.

Unobtainable Parts - These are parts for which there is no substitute. It can include certain transformers or many pieces which are visable elements of the radio. In this case the part will have to be rebuilt, if possible, or pulled from another radio. Finding radios that can be used for parts is rare and often costly. But by the time the repair or restoration has gone this far, don't give up.

Where do I get my parts?

The majority of my parts I have in stock. Many pieces are bought in bulk to maximize savings. I will scower the web in search fo the best prices for vintage radio parts and equipment, and have numerous contacts who deal in estate sales. The rest of the time I buy my supplies from Antique Electronic Supply. They have always provided me with the best overall prices and service.
